Step-by-Step Ritual

(Prepare 3-5 days before the new moon)

1. Prepare the Hand Offering

  1. Trace your right hand on the sheet of paper.

  2. Cut out the hand shape.

  3. Turn the paper face down.

  4. On the fingers, write your requests:

    • Luck, love, prosperity, health, road opening, protection, etc. (Be Specific)

  5. In the center of the palm, write your full name.

  6. Place the paper hand on your white plate.

2. Prepare the Padê Mixture

In a white bowl, combine:

  • 2 cups cassava flour or cornmeal

  • Egg yolk

  • Cloves

  • Cinnamon

  • Nutmeg

Slowly add honey while mixing with your hands.

As you mix, speak your intentions and call respectfully:

“Exu open my roads. Bring prosperity, opportunity, movement, and good fortune.”

Feel your requests activating.

3. Assemble the Offering

  • Place one bay leaf right on top of your name in the center of the paper hand.

  • Spread the Padê meal/flour mixture over the entire hand, covering it completely.

  • Place cinnamon on your hands, then pick up the 21 coins.

  • Rub the coins together in your cinnamon-covered hands to charge them.

  • Arrange the coins on top of the Padê mixture in whatever pattern feels aligned.

4. Light the Candle

  • Light the red candle as an offering to Exu

  • Light the white candle for clarity, purity of intention, and spiritual protection.

Place the offering close to the doorway, your closet, or in a reserved, undisturbed area.

How Long to Leave the Offering

Leave the offering for 3 to 5 days.

How to Dispose of the Offering

After 3–5 days: (on the New Moon)

  • Take the Padê (mixture) to a garden or natural space and return it to the earth.

  • Give the 21 coins away by:

    • Giving them directly to someone who is unhoused

    • Buying food, water, or something essential for someone in need

This completes the prosperity circuit — the road opens, you ask, you receive, and you give.
