Mental Detox

We choose our joys and sorrows long before we experience them.

-Khalil Gibran

We know that cleansing our mental body is just as important as cleansing our physical and emotional bodies. What we think is just as important as what we eat and what we feel. Tehuti’s Law of Correspondence is always at play. What we eat affects what and how we feel; what we feel affects what we think and so on.

However, it is the food that we put into our minds that have such an impact on our character and how we operate in the world. What we think becomes our reality. The state of our body, health, finances and relationships are a direct reflection of what we think and what we feel; more precisely those habitual thought patterns from our past and our current thoughts that will impact our tomorrow.

Therefore, it is so critical that we are deeply scanning our negative thought patterns and engaging in some sort of mental detox on regular basis. We cannot change our environments and the conditions that we find ourselves in without first modifying what’s going on and in our minds. In short - a mental detox is the activity of clearing the mind, specifically of negative and toxic thoughts to help find balance and focus through the process of releasing everyday stressors, anxieties and distractions.

The first thing we can start doing to mentally detox is to express gratitude followed by acknowledging that it’s the creator’s (source, Divine, Intelligence, The All) desire for us to be prosperous, healthy and joyful. The next thing we can do is begin selecting the kind of thoughts we are doing to think throughout the day.

To be absolutely clear - this not going to be an easy process especially when the self-saboteur steps in telling us who we are and what we can and can not do or be. Even more difficult sometimes, is listening to all the negative sound bites from our closest friends or relatives or engaging in social media or just everyday toxic news media.

However here are some mental detox processes we can engage in to help us along. These include activities such deep breathing, yoga stretching and taking a break from electronic devices and social media.

Another useful tool we found is The Paraliminals. They are a quick and effective way to reprogram the brain. The Paraliminals literally bring balance and alignment to both the left and rights hemispheres of the Brain. It been said by listening for just 10-15 minutes a day you can improve almost anything in your life.
